We are the band that plays Rebetika for all occasions.
We are a group who have a passion and love of Greek Rebetika music and our aim is to keep the Rebetika musical traditions alive. We are happy entertaining at any venue, whether to the general public or family events such as weddings, birthdays or any party!
Rebetika otherwise known as the 'Greek blues' originated in the taverns and tekes of Greece. Formed from the country's urban subculture, Rebetiko songs are renowned for addressing the realities of society and its everyday life. Having evolved from its 'roots music' origin, Rebetiko has come to form the foundations of Greek popular music as it is known today. Although Rebetiko is now called the Greek Blues the music is not just about being down but being carefree and having a good time.
The Rebetiko Odyssey band features masterful bouzouki playing, powerful percussion, soulful vocals and exotic 9/8 rhythms which together, take you on a journey through sounds of the Greek Underground.
